Scripture of The Day
September 8, 2021

And truly, if they had been mindful (constantly rehearsing it over and over again in their minds) of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. (Hebrews 11:15)

By Ed Henderson (2019)

Sometimes, forgetting those things that lie behind can be hard. We have all done things we are not proud of. Most all of us have been through pain, heartache, failures, and addictions. However, the Word says that we are new creatures when we are born-again. The Word says we are overcomers and have been given authority to walk free from shame and guilt. So, what we have to do is take that authority and use it over all our thoughts, feelings, traditions, and actions that exalt themselves above the knowledge of God and burn our own personal ships by faith.
Listen to this great song by King and Country and the back story on why this song was written. Also, read the lyrics that follow.

How did we get here? All castaway on a lonely shore
I can see in your eyes, dear, It’s hard to take for a moment more
We’ve got to, Burn the ships, cut the ties, Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide, Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Step into a new day, We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah, So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don’t you look back
Don’t let it arrest you, This fear is fear of fallin’ again
And if you need a refuge, I will be right here until the end
Oh, it’s time to, Burn the ships, cut the ties, Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide, Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Step into a new day, We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah, So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don’t you look back
So long to shame, walk through the sorrow, Out of the fire into tomorrow
So flush the pills, face the fear, Feel the wave disappear
We’re comin’ clear, we’re born again, Our hopeful lungs can breathe again, Oh, we can breathe again
Step into a new day, We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah, So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And step into a new day, We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah, So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don’t you look back (x3)
