Scripture for the Day (November 11, 2015)
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2)
Just like money is the currency used to make transactions in the natural realm, faith is the currency that is used to make prayer transactions in the spirit realm. If you go into a store and you don’t have any money you can’t make a purchase. In the same way, you can’t make a spiritual transaction without faith.
We have been justified (made righteous) by faith (trusting in, clinging to, and relying on) in Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access by faith into the grace we are now standing in per Romans 5:1-2. In Mark 5:34 Jesus is speaking to the woman with the issue of blood and says, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Jesus did not say His faith had made her whole. He said her faith had made her whole. You can’t spend someone else’s faith any more than you can spend someone else’s money.
To those that still think that our faith is not very important to God check out these verses.
II Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”.
Romans 1:17 says, “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
God puts a high premium on faith because according to the Word of God we are saved through faith, are justified by faith, have access by faith, are to walk by faith, are to live by faith, and without faith cannot please God.
Faith is an action verb, not just a noun. You are not considered a man or woman of faith just because you belong to a certain church. God is not looking for your church membership. He is looking for followers that are exercising their faith in their daily lives. That is why Jesus will be looking for it when He returns.
The big question is, will He find it in us???
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1, KJV)
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1, NLT)
A faithful man (a man of faith) shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. (Proverbs 28:20)
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)
