Scripture for the Day (April 14, 2016)

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20, Amplified Bible)

The word benefit means something that is advantageous or good, an advantage, a useful aid or help. Let’s take a look at how God supplies his believers with Great Benefits:

Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:”

The Amplified Bible says, “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits.”

Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation!”

I Corinthians 9:23 says, “I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”

The Weymouth New Testament says, “And I do everything for the sake of the Good News, that I may share with my hearers in its benefits.”

What are those benefits?

Psalm 103:3-5 says, “Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

I Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

The Amplified Bible says, “But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].”

I Thessalonians 5:9 says, “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,”

The Greek word used in the Bible for salvation is “soteria” which means deliverance, preservation, soundness, prosperity, happiness, rescue, safety, and general well being.

Don’t forget all of His Great Benefits!!!!

For You, O Lord, bless the righteous man [the one who is in right standing with You]; You surround him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12, Amplified Bible)
