Scripture for the Day (August 30, 2016)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

As I began to meditate on John 3:16 one day, I saw something I had never seen before. The Holy Spirit led me to the word “gave” and actually had me say,” for God so loved He gave”, and I repeated it several times. I realized (got revelation) that God loved us so much He did something (He gave).

Gave is the past tense of the verb give, which is an action verb. God took action and He gave because of his love for us (the world). God is a giver and when you join His family by being born again (the new birth), you’ll grow and develop into a giver. The devil and his family (the world) are selfish, prideful, takers and are full of wanting.

John 10:10 says the thief (satan or the devil) has come to steal, kill, and to destroy, but Jesus said I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly. I John 2:16 in the Message Bible says, “Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from Him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.”

God loved this “wanting” world so much that He gave Jesus. He loved us to the point of sowing His best and only seed, His only son, because loving and giving is His nature. That’s who He is! When you are translated from the Kingdom of darkness (the devil and the world), into the kingdom of light and love (the family of God), you get on the giving side. You begin to grow and develop into the same loving and giving nature of your heavenly Father!

Ephesians 5:1 says, “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.” Every day we must go out into the world and allow people to see the nature of God at work in His children. That’s how you bring the life of God into a situation.

We encourage you to get on the giving (winning) side today!

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6:38)
