Scripture for the Day (December 15, 2016)
For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. (Matthew 13:34)
Many things happen because we as believers permit them to happen by not using the authority given to us in Jesus name. I once heard a preacher say that as he was studying the subject of “believers’ authority” he sensed the Lord was challenging him. At the time he had been praying for his brother’s salvation for fifteen years. He said he had often prayed and fasted three days at a time for him to be saved, but his brother would only get worse. He’d pray, “God save him! God save him!” But nothing ever happened. He said that as he lay across the bed studying on this particular day, he heard the Lord challenge him: “You do something about the situation. You’ve got the authority. You’ve got my
Name!”
He said he rose up off that bed and said, “In the name of Jesus Christ, I break the power of the devil off my brother’s life. And I declare his salvation and deliverance in Jesus name!!” In less than two weeks, he got word that his brother had been born again.
Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Matthew 18:18 says, “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
The ISV Bible says, “I tell all of you with certainty, whatever you prohibit on earth will have been prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven.”
II Corinthians 4:4 says, “Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
II Timothy 2:26 says, “And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.”
Don’t permit the devil to blind, snare, and take captive you or your family. Use your authority in Jesus name!!!
