Scripture for the Day (December 22, 2016)

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. (Matthew 8:13)

There are literally hundreds of promises in the Word of God for the believer and they are all linked to and activated by simply believing. In Mark 9:23 Jesus said, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” In Mark 11:24 He said, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

The Hebrew word used for believe in the Old Testament is aman which means to trust in, to have assurance of, and to support. The Greek word used in the New Testament is pisteuo which means to have faith in, to trust in, and to commit to. It is very enlightening when you review all the scriptures that contain the words believe, believeth and believest. The following are just a few examples of the promises contained in scriptures in the New Testament that contain those words:

They shall never die John 11:26

They shall not perish John 3:15

They shall be saved Mark 16:16

They shall not be condemned John 3:18

They shall have everlasting life John 6:47

They shall never thirst John 6:35

Out of their belly shall flow rivers of living water John 7:38

They shall not abide in darkness John 12:46

They shall not be confounded 1 John 5:1

They shall overcome the world 1 John 5:5

All things are possible to them Mark 9:23

They shall see the glory of God John 11:40

All we have to do to inherit these promises from Jesus is to simply believe! He has done all the rest!!!
