Scriptures for the Day (December 29, 2016)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

The two Scriptures for the Day contain a powerful truth and revelation. Jesus was the Word of God made flesh. His every action and move was in obedience to the Word. When he was tempted by Satan in the desert He responded by speaking the Word. When He went to the synagogue He read and spoke the Word. Every action and reaction was filtered and governed by the Word. He was literally the Word wrapped in flesh.

Jesus is our example! He is a picture of how we are to overcome in this world. When the Word tells us, “as he is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17), it means just that. Now, some may say that is impossible and heretical but hear me out. Jesus did not come to Earth as God, but as a flesh and blood man. He came to show us “the Way”.

The revelation that Jesus is trying to show us is the following. Jesus was the Word of God made flesh. You and I are flesh to be made the Word of God. Consider the following scriptures:

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted (implanted) word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21)

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)

Look at it like this. The Word of God is to be like a skin graft. It is to become a part of you. It has to be part of your very being. When anything happens in your life, you automatically refer to what the Word says. In the heat of battle, you cannot depend on what a friend or Pastor knows. You have to have your own armor, your own weapons, and they need to have been proven (tried and tested).

And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved (tried, used, tested) them. And David put them off him,. (1 Samuel 17:38-39)

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:13-18)

Let me ask you a personal question. If someone had the ability to put a dip-stick into you and measure your Word level, what would be the reading? Would it say full, or would it say empty? We need to be full if we expect to overcome!!!
