Scripture of the Day
January 13, 2022
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want.
Galatians 5:16-17
Paul wrote that the Holy Spirit changes the way we think and act. He wants believers to know that if we let the Holy Spirit guide us, that we will do what God wants instead of what we want. It’s all about JESUS any way!!
When the Holy Spirit is in control, we CHOOSE love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These actions are the Fruit of the Spirit-proof that the Spirit is in us.
Paul wrote that when we trust in Jesus, we no longer want to do whatever pleases us. The Holy Spirit gives us the POWER to say NO!! The more we know Jesus, the more we will choose actions like joy, kindness, and self-control. We will want to live to please God. Since the Holy Spirit lives in us, we must let the Holy Spirit guide us.
