Scripture for the Day (March 24, 2017)

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

What do you think about and meditate on for the majority of your day? Is it your job? Is it the news? Is it your family? Is it your present challenges? What is it? What you think about the most will eventually turn into conversation with somebody. If you meditate on worries and fear then you will be filled with worry and fear and your conversation will be with the enemy. If you meditate on the Word of God then your conversation will be with God and you will be filled with hope an peace.

The J. B. Phillips New Testament translation of 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “Our battle is to bring down every deceptive fantasy and every imposing defense that men erect against the true knowledge of God. We even fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ.”

The Message Bible says, “We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.”

In Mark 11:23 Jesus said, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

These passages of scripture talk about the mind and the mouth. What’s in your mind (what you’re thinking about) and what’s in your mouth (what you’re saying) will directly affect your behavior either for good or bad.

Psalm 19:14 says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.”

Romans 15:6 says, “that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

I don’t know about you but I would rather carry on a conversation with God than the enemy. I would rather speak the Word of God than the lies of the enemy. I am therefore going to meditate on God’s Word day and night and keep God’s Word in my mouth that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. In that way, I will prosper and have good success!
