Scripture for the Day (April 6, 2017)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

We just returned from Dallas, TX where we had an incredible Sunday morning worship service. One of the subjects Cheryl and I taught on was about how the Lord wants a personal relationship with us versus rules and religion. He wants us to know Him! As I was reflecting on what we had taught this last Sunday I started hearing this scripture in my head:

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:21-23)

There are a lot of people that know about Jesus, but do they really know Jesus? There are a lot of people that are doing good works, but do they really know the Lord? There are even people that are doing what appears to be miraculous works, but according to Jesus, He does not know them. Boy, how profound is that???

Now, in light of that scriptural warning, how important is it to really know Jesus and the Father???

You may ask, just how in the world do I get to really know Jesus and the Father? I am glad you asked. First, you have to humble yourself and ask Jesus into your heart. You have to be born again. Jesus is the only way to the Father and you cannot even see the Kingdom without being born again. Second, you have to spend time in the Word of God and spend time with Him in prayer to start developing a close relationship. You honor a person by spending time with them and the more time you spend with them the closer the relationship becomes. Third, you have to listen and be obedient to do what He tells you to do. As you learn to hear His voice, and do what He says, your faith and your relationship will grow exponentially.

On the other side of the coin, there are some things you should not do or quit doing. Quit listening to the voices of the enemy! Quit seeking advice from psychics, mediums, and spiritualists (just to name a few)! Do not communicate with the dead! These type practices traffic in lies and demonic spirits. It may sound legitimate, and it may seem to be the cool thing to do, but it will never lead you to true freedom or to a relationship with God.

You need to spend your time with the real deal; the lover of your soul; the one that died for you; the one that cannot lie; the one that can give you true wisdom and direction! Works and witches will not get you where you want to go (a relationship with God, freedom, and ultimately Heaven). A personal relationship with Jesus will get you there!

Think about it!!!!!

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1 Timothy 2:5)
