Scripture for the Day (May 2, 2017)

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God. (1 Corinthians 14:2)

We recently published three separate devotionals relating to “The Second Experience” which is the Baptism in the Holy Ghost. You can review those past devotionals on our website at https://newlifenetwork-org-staging.smwnm894-liquidwebsites.com in the Media section under Blogs. Today, we are going to do something a little bit different. We are going to follow-up on those devotionals with a sermon by Pastor Robert Morris.

Pastor Morris is the Senior Pastor of Gateway Church in Texas. This church has five campuses in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and they currently have over 39,000 active members. You can see more detail on this church at http://www.gatewaypeople.com. Pastor Morris comes from a Southern Baptist background so he is very familiar with the doctrinal stands by many Baptists, as well as several other evangelical denominations, on the Baptism in the Holy Ghost and more specifically on “speaking in tongues”. This sermon is one of the best I have ever heard on this subject. Pastor Morris shares his personal experience and testimony on dealing with this matter. He shares what the Word of God says about it. More importantly, he deals with it in a common sense, logical, non-emotional manner that any fair and open-minded person should be able to understand.

We encourage you to take the time to listen to the entire message from Pastor Morris. Just click on the following youtube link and it will take you to the message:

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, “which,” saith He, “ye have heard from Me; (Acts 1:4)

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:39)

I (Paul) thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: (1 Corinthains 14:18)

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. (1 Corinthians 14:39)
