Scripture for the Day (June 16, 2017)

John 16:13 says,” However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

Some people, when they need direction or guidance, seek it through fortune tellers, fortune cookies, the horoscope or even the stars. But here in John 16:13 it says the Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Direction comes from trusting and delighting in the Lord with all your heart, and in all your ways.

Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.” As I was pondering this verse one day I heard this. If the steps of a righteous or good man are ordered of the Lord, then the steps of an unrighteous or bad man aren’t. The New International Version says, “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.”

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” God’s Word Translation says, “If any of you needs wisdom to know what you should do, you should ask God, and he will give it to you. God is generous to everyone and doesn’t find fault with them.”

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom“. Psalms 119:96-100 in the Living Bible says, “Nothing is perfect except your words. Oh, how I think about them all day long. They make me wiser than my enemies, because they are my constant guide. They make me even wiser than the aged.”

You are being led by the Spirit, and you are trusting the Lord, when you look to His Word. It is the truth, and it is the light, that will guide you and make you wise. Remember, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.
