Scripture for the Day (May 16, 2016)
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12, NLT)
James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
John 12:36 says, ”While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”
I Thessalonians 5:5 says, “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.”
Ephesians 5:8 says, “[Walk in Light ] For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
God is the Father of lights and if we are His children that means we are to be lights.
Matthew 5:14-16 says, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
The body of Christ was meant to function together, and if we as the body are lights and we come together we will get brighter and brighter.”
Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
Our path is as shining light because it reflects off of us. As we keep going forward and growing in our faith the light gets brighter and brighter.
Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”
I John 1:7 says, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
The light that comes from God’s Word radiates out of us as we hide it in our heart. We need to be getting brighter and brighter!!!
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. (John 11:9-10)
