Scripture for the Day (July 21, 2017)

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (John 20:29)

We recently did a devotional on “The Power of Believing”. This subject is so important that it needs a Part 2 and probably a thousand more parts. Everything Jesus taught us is all predicated on us believing. There is no promise in the Word of God that is available to us without belief. The simple act of believing is the most powerful tool mankind possesses. It’s the doorway to salvation. It’s the entrance way to the miraculous. It’s the opening to spiritual gifts. It’s the revealing of who we really are, who we belong to, and what we are here for. None of this is possible without believing.

Let’s take a few minutes today to reflect on a few scriptures about believing. Every one of us has something we are believing for. Look these scriptures up in your own Bible and read them in context. Meditate on them. Memorize them. Get them into your heart and believe them!

Therefore the Lord God says this, “Listen carefully, I am laying in Zion a Stone, a tested Stone, A precious Cornerstone for the [secure] foundation, firmly placed. He who believes [who trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone] will not be disturbed or give way [in sudden panic]. (Isaiah 28:16, Amplified Bible)

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. (Matthew 8:13)

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. (Mark 5:36)

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (Mark 9:23)

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24)

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:45)

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)
