Scripture for the Day (August 4, 2017)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
For years my wife Terri and I struggled financially, and though there are always financial challenges, finances aren’t near the struggle for us as they were before. What changed that made the difference? God didn’t change because He remains the same.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
What happened? We changed! Over the years we have discovered the Biblical principle of seed time and harvest. We changed the way we did things and started basing what we did on the Word of God. God is not a respecter of person’s but he is a respecter of faith. God wants you to trust Him with your finances, to have faith in Him and His Word.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” It doesn’t say without prayer or without reading your Bible or without giving it is impossible to please God. It says without faith it’s impossible to please God. With faith and trust in God you will pray and you will read your Bible and you will give. God has laid out the ways for us to receive the things He has for us, and it’s up to us to plug into them.
Luke 6:38 says, “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Matthew 16:19 says, “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
It’s your job to use your faith (the keys) to give, and to bind and to loose.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Have faith and trust in God and His Word and don’t lean to what you or anybody else thinks. Acknowledge God alone, and He will direct your paths.
