Scripture for the Day (August 24, 2017)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Ephesians 1:3)
In our last devotional we concentrated on how God uses regular people to do extraordinary things. He does not look at your worldly or social qualifications but at your heart. Now, let’s take that one step further and take a look at what God supplies to those who choose to follow Him.
The scripture says that God will bless them with all spiritual blessings. The word “all” means just that, ALL. When we are born again we are made new creatures. Old things are passed away. New things, like the Holy Spirit, are now available to us. The fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit are available to us. The armor of God is available to us. I say available because we have to put on the armor and we have to be open to the things of the Spirit. We are elevated to a potential spiritual status that most people can’t even imagine.
However, what you and I need to understand is that you and I are now dangerous to Satan and his kingdom. Because you are now dangerous, Satan will start verbally assaulting you because he is the accuser of the brethren. That’s just what he does to try to get you to back off. Satan will remind you over and over again of every rotten thing you have ever done, every failure, and tell you that you are just a regular person with no power; you have no theological degree; you have no experience; and you are nothing special. Over and over Satan will try to convince you that you cannot do what God is calling you to do. Don’t listen to him!!!
In fact, take authority over those thoughts and cast them down in the name of Jesus using the following scriptures:
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Corinthians 10:5)
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)
You are a child of God! You listen to God and His Word and not to the accusations of the evil one. You have direct access to the throne room of God. If you lack wisdom all you have to do is ask. You have been given power and authority over Satan and all his demons. They know that and they tremble at that authority.
God has a mission for each and every one of us. We just have to listen to Him and ignore all the naysayers. The Spirit of the Living God resides within you. You and Him together are unbeatable. You can accomplish whatever He says you can accomplish so go for it with all your might in Jesus name!
