Scripture for the Day (September 27, 2017)
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (Ephesians 1:19-21)
One of the ways that we learn in life is by the nature of things which are usually associated with their name. For example, we know in South Georgia to stay clear of a rattlesnake because his nature is to bite and inject poisonous venom. We also know not to get too close to fire because if we do it will burn you. The very names of rattlesnake and fire imply potential danger. Their nature is built into their name.
The Bible has a unique way of showing us God’s nature by using numerous names to describe the nature and habits of Jehovah God. These names actually show the heart of God. Take some time this morning to review these various names of Jehovah which can give you a much better understanding of His heart. If there is one particular one that you need to call on today, read the associated scripture and call on Him. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
