Scripture for the Day (November 24, 2017)
For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? (1 Corinthians 15:53-55, NLT)
I just returned from the funeral of a four month old baby girl named Madison Grace. Our Pastor did a wonderful job ministering at this funeral and I am reminded once again how important it is to have Jesus, a good Pastor, and a good church family around you when times like these arise.
I am also so proud of this young couple. Millennials are usually not talked of too highly in the church world but this couple shoots that reputation in the foot. They chose life for this baby when they were told by doctors to abort. They did everything they knew how to do medically and spiritually and then they stood. They attended the night of praise and thanksgiving at our church the night before the funeral. If Jesus himself were to walk through the door of their home today He would say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servants”. Thank God there are some millennials that really get it!!!
We all have so much to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Regardless of what we go through in this life we should be grateful to God that He has given us a way to not lose hope. He will never leave us nor forsake us. As hard as losing a child is, we can rejoice that she is in that family’s future, and not just in their past. That young mom and dad will see their daughter again some day in Heaven!!!
Let’s all be thankful during this season for all that God has blessed us with. Hug and kiss all your kids and grandkids and make sure you let your entire family know how much you love them (even the grumpy ones). Please say a prayer for this young couple, and most of all, tell God how thankful you are and let your personal praise and thanksgiving help take you through every difficult situation in your own life.
Psalm 118:2 says, The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold.
Isaiah 40:31 says, But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Philippians 4:6 says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Ephesians 5:19-20 says, Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 100:4 says, Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Psalm 95:2 says, Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
Psalm 95:2 says, Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
