Scripture for the Day (January 31, 2018)
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (Ecclesiastes 3:4)
There have been times in our ministry when I felt God smiling from Heaven. I cannot explain that in the natural but I have literally felt that in the Spirit. The most pronounced times were when we were either ministering in prisons or were in the midst of praise and worship.
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. (Psalm 149:3)
This tells me that God has emotions and He is most happy when we are using our gifts and talents to share our love for Him with others and when we are sharing our love to Him in praise and worship.
Praise and worship is one of those key areas when I can feel God smiling. David danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14). God smiled that day!
We have a young lady in our church that is an interpretive dancer and she dances every few weeks in our Sunday service. I cannot even explain how anointed this young lady is. God smiles when she dances! All I can do is cry when she dances.
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; (Psalm 30:11)
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; (James 1:2)
For the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
What do all these scriptures point to? What do they reflect? For me, they point to a gift that God has given His children to help us overcome all the heartaches that we experience in this world that we live in. In the time of mourning, dance! In the time of temptations, count it all joy! In the time of sickness, have a merry heart! When the world tells us to be sad, God tells us to be glad. When the world tells us to be depressed, God tells us to dance. This is God’s prescriptions for healing and health and it drives the enemy crazy!!!
As I watched the young lady in our church dance several weeks ago I felt God said to me, “When my daughter dances, I smile and men cry.” God smiles when this young lady dances and I cry! I just pray that we can all get to a point that we can learn to dance, not only in the good times, but especially in the tough times. We have a lot to dance about!
May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace. (Numbers 6:24-26, NLT)
