Scripture for the Day (June 13, 2016)

The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great. May the LORD give you increase more and more, you and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men. (Psalm 115:12-16).

This scripture in Psalm 115 tells us that the Lord has been mindful of us. What that means is simply that the mind of God is full of thoughts about mankind. But what is it that God thinks about us when He is thinking about us?

What you write in a letter is what you feel in your heart and what you think with your mind. God has written a letter to mankind. It is His Word and in His Word He shares His desire to clothe man with His glory. (Hebrews 1:3 NIV; Galatians 3:27 NIV, among other verses.) In His letter, He shares His desire to bring increase, prosperity, emotional stability, and health to His children.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 2)

When I hear people make statements like, “God had a purpose in making me destitute (or sick),” it reveals how little they know about the nature and the mind of God. God is mindful of us because He loves us. God is mindful of us because He wants the best for you and for me. God is mindful of us and desires for us to understand and trust Him. Trusting God is a part of faith, and faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6).

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17)

God’s plan for you today is good, greater, better, and best – not bad and less. His plan is increase. He wants increase in your spiritual life. He wants increase in your physical life. He wants increase in your financial life and He wants increase in your emotional life. So if you ever wonder what God thinks about you, according to His Word, it’s good thoughts. (Psalm 40:5; 139:17, among other verses.)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
