Scriptures for the Day (May 14, 2018)
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130).
Light brings understanding and knowledge. If you need understanding or knowledge you need to get into the Word of God. Have you ever heard someone make the statement “As far as I know.”? As I thought about that statement I realized that most people will only go as far as they know. I also hear people say, “I’ve done all I know to do.” Well, when you’ve done all you know to do, you need to know some more. You need more information or revelation for whatever you’re doing or dealing with.
2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
God has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him (GOD).The Bible says in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.”
Fear will hold you in bondage and will eventually destroy you because of what you don’t know. The light of God’s Word brings wisdom, revelation, information and knowledge that causes faith to rise up (Romans 10:17) and drive out fear. That’s why the Word of God is so important. As you begin to read the Word of God the Holy Spirit will enlighten you to know where to go and what to do.
Psalm 119:105 says, “God’s Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,” It shows me where I’m at (standing), and where I’m going (my path).
Colossians 1:10 says, “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
John 8:31-32 says, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Matthew 7:70-8 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
Our responsibility is to ask, seek, and knock. Our responsibility is to read and meditate on the Word of God. If you want to come out of darkness you must allow the light of God’s Word to renew your mind. The Word is quick (alive) and powerful but it is not going to jump off the shelf or the table where your Bible is and invade your mind and heart. You must pick it up and read it. You will be amazed!!!
