Scripture for the Day (July 18, 2018)
But thou art holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3).
Praise and worship is probably the most powerful tool given to man to get connected to God, His presence, and all His benefits. Psalm 22:3 says God “inhabitest” the praises of His people. The word inhabitest in the Hebrew is “yashab” and it means to sit down, dwell, remain, settle, tarry, lurk, abide or inhabit. That means that God comes near when we start praising and worshiping Him and when He comes near all ungodliness, all bondages, and all demonic activity has to leave. We see it in 1 Samuel 16:23 when David played the harp for Saul and demons had to flee. We see it in 2 Chronicles 20 when King Jehoshaphat placed the singers before the army. When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the enemies who had come against Judah and they were routed.
I recently heard a minister say, “Praise connects you to your victory.” He went on to say, “The minute there’s a sound made in God’s name He shows up.” Psalm 32:7 says, “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
God inhabits, dwells, abides, and lives in those places where praise is offered up to Him. I believe this is especially true in the face of defeat in any situation whether financially, mentally, or physically. If you’re silent, you’re going down. Dead men or spiritually dead Christians don’t shout. In most situations, you need more wisdom or revelation, and singing praises will propel you into the wisdom, anointing, and revelation you need.
Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. (Psalm 42:8)
Shout unto God with the voice of triumph. (Psalm 47:1)
Have you ever thought about this? The scripture says that God will joy over us with singing. Now, if He joys over us with singing don’t you think it would be even more important for us to joy over Him with singing.
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.(Zephaniah 3:17)
I was recently in a Sunday morning service at our local church where the praise and worship was off the charts. If a religious person had walked in off the street they would have thought it was out of control but it wasn’t. It was a time of great honor to a great God. It was a time of healing and breakthrough. It reminded me of David when He was bringing the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem and was dancing and praising God with all his might. His wife was greatly offended at him but David’s response to her was that she hadn’t seen anything yet. He was going to up the ante. That’s what we all need to do. We need to up the ante when it comes to praising and worshiping our God!!! If we will do that, He will show up.
