Scripture for the Day (July 23, 2018)

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

God looks on our heart and He can see if we are praising and seeking Him with our whole heart. He knows if our worship and our praise is whole-hearted or half-hearted. The definition of the word “whole” is containing all components; complete; not divided or disjointed; in one unit. The definition of the word “half” is a portion, division, piece, or segment of a whole. We can’t have a divided heart where we give part of our heart to God and other parts to some sin or some idol.

Luke 10:27 says, “So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.'”

Psalm 138:1 says, “I will praise You with my whole heart.”

Psalm 119:10 says, “With my whole heart I have sought You;”

I Samuel 16:7 says, “God looks on the heart.”

Romans 13:14 says, “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”

Jeremiah 24:7 says, “For they shall return to Me with their whole heart.”

Colossians 3:23-24 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Romans 1:9 says, “For God is my witness, Whom I serve with my [whole] heart [rendering priestly and spiritual service] in [preaching] the Gospel and [telling] the good news of His Son, how incessantly I always mention you when at my prayers.”

We wrote a book several years ago entitled “For the Love of God”. Jesus told all of us that the greatest Commandment was to love God with all our hearts. He did not say that just to complete a chapter in the Bible. Our personal love of God has great rewards, more than we have ever imagined. That is why the enemy constantly wants to sow doubts in our minds about why we should love God. Here is the truth. Anything that you hear about God that does not bring hope, healing, and liberty, does not come from God. Anything that brings fear does not come from God. Anything that does not cause you to love God more and more each day is not from God. When you hear and know the truth about God, your love will increase more and more. If you are truly walking with God, your love for Him will increase every day and every year because you see His heart and you see His love for you. Do not let anyone rob you of that by ascribing things to God that have no association with Him at all.
