A Soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1
Have you thought to yourself, Lord, I blew it–again. Has someone ever made an insensitive remark toward you and before you knew it, you shot back an unkind comment? Then it turned into the two of you speaking harshly even yelling at each other. It makes you feel sick at heart, and asking the Lord, what do I do now. This person doesn’t even want to talk to me.
It pulls on your heart string bad and all you know to do now is say Lord, please help us. And in that moment of peace and quiet you seek His direction.
In Psalm 145:8-9 is says, “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love…good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” I’m so glad that even in my frustration the Lord still has compassion for me and Loves me just the way I am.
It’s in my prayer that I ask God to shed the defensive attitude of mine and to be willing to understand how the other person feels. “Love…will hardly even notice when others do it wrong” (1 Corinthians 13:5).
