Scripture for the Day (June 29, 2016)

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19)

All scripture is good (2 Timothy 3:16) but there are some KEY scriptures in the Bible that help explain God’s heart and help us understand what is going on in this crazy world we live in. As I sit in our ministry office today I am reflecting and mourning over the recent carnage in Orlando at the Pulse nightclub and on the bomb attack that has just been unleashed on the travelers at the Istanbul, Turkey airport. I have also just read a disturbing article on the Internet today where some so-called Christian Pastors were praying for the wounded in Orlando to die because of their homosexual lifestyle.

Let’s get one thing real straight!!! A so-called Christian Pastor that prays for someone to die because of their sin is no different than the so-called Muslim that killed all those people at the Pulse. Neither one of them know the Father! Neither one of them know Jesus! Both are serving the thief (Satan) and are captive to legalism and/or the traditions of man which make the Word of God of no effect.

John 10:10 is one of the KEY scriptures in the Word of God that defines the difference between serving Jesus versus serving Satan. The thief cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Thievery, lies, murder, sickness, death and destruction are all tactics of the Satan. Jesus came to defeat all that! He was crucified and shed His blood on the Cross to defeat those things. Jesus came to give us an abundant life (not death). John 10:10 is a KEY to evaluating what is and what is not of God.

I don’t care what you call yourself from a religious standpoint, if you are promoting death and destruction you do not know the Father or the Son! You are operating on the devil’s territory.

John 3:16 is a very well-known scripture that is often quoted by itself. When you read John 3:16 with John 3:17 it becomes a KEY scripture. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)

One of the best ways to understand the scriptures is to read the Bible and then compare it to what Jesus did as He walked on this earth. He was the Word made flesh so He is literally the walking definition of the Word. Consider the following the next time you are ready to condemn someone’s lifestyle or sin:

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (John 8:3-11)

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 1:21-23)
