Scripture for the Day (August 10, 2016)
And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35, NLT)
A few years ago we were given a truck to use in our “Future Now” outreach ministry to high schools. The person that gave it said God spoke to them to give it. In fact, my wife and I have been blessed by seven vehicles that were given to our ministry over the years and every person said God spoke to them to give us the vehicles. Someone might ask, how could you get seven vehicles given to you? The answer to that is simple. God had previously spoken to us to give six vehicles away and you always get back more than you give in the Kingdom of God.
God spoke to me and my wife every time we gave and we gave out of obedience to God and all the people that have given to us said that God spoke to them. I believe that’s why Acts 20:35 says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Without giving there can be no receiving. That’s how the Kingdom of God’s economic system works. If you never sow or plant a seed, you’ll never get a harvest. If a farmer never plants seed, he will never have a crop to harvest.
Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
As you sow or give, it will be sown or given back to you.
Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” When you are born again you enter into the Kingdom of God and become partakers of His inheritance.
Matthew 6:31-33 says, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
As you trust God, and seek His Kingdom first, everything that you have need of will be added to you. God supplies all your needs, by His riches in glory. Now, God’s not going to rain down money from Heaven. He is not a counterfeiter. But, if you are a giver, He will speak to others by His Holy Spirit to give to you. We are His body, so we are the hands that give to others and everything we have belongs to God. So we should willingly give it when God speaks.
Remember, according to Luke 6:38 in the Amplified Bible, “For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.”
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
Be a cheerful Kingdom Giver and you will be a cheerful Kingdom Receiver!
