Self self-consciousness is a big deal in the Body of Christ. I know it has kept me from doing things God has told me to do. I would wonder, now what will people think? What if I pray for them and they die? What if I start claiming and believing one of God’s promises and it doesn’t come to pass? I won’t look too good, will I?

I know that others have been through that scenario as well. Here is the truth of the matter, it doesn’t matter how you look! The main thing is to obey the Lord. That is what really matters. When it comes to obeying God my reputation doesn’t count. The sooner I learned that lesson the better off I became.

The funny thing about that was when I started obeying God with no regards to what others thought my reputation got better. When we lose the desire to protect our image, our image will improve. When God begins to work through your life to minister to others they won’t see your image, they will see the image of Jesus.

So give up that old self-consciousness and develop God consciousness instead. Stop being dominated by the fear of man and start being motivated by faith in what Jesus can do.
