Scripture Of The Day
“And they overcame him (the accuser of the brethren) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Excerpts by Marilyn Greer
Do you qualify as an overcomer? Webster’s defines an overcomer as one who struggles but conquers; prevails, overpowers, and is victorious.
Revelation 12:11 tells us where overcomers get this overcoming power. “And they overcame him (the accuser of the brethren) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Overcoming by the blood of the Lamb is reality when we make Jesus our Lord and Savior. Our “test”-imony makes us overcomers because we have been tested—gone through some stuff. We can use our testimony as a weapon against “the accuser”. It indicates that we have endured and persevered when things were hard. We have gotten to know who God is through His Word and seen Him respond to our fervent prayers. And we’ve come through the circumstance victorious with a stronger faith and a deeper trust.
Satan was defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Through this overwhelming victory, and by relying on God’s power, being obedient to His Word, we are well able to be overcomers.
In Andre Crouch’s song, “Through It All”, the attitude of an overcomer is summed up in the lyrics: “I’ve had many tears and sorrows. I’ve had questions about tomorrow. There were times I didn’t know right from wrong. But in every situation, God gave me blessed consolation that my trials come to only make me strong. Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God. Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.”
I qualify as an overcomer!
