Scripture Of The Day

Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

By Cheryl Henderson

"Be of good courage, Joshua" is a call to bravery and strength in the book of Joshua. It's a message God gives Joshua as he prepares to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, emphasizing the importance of courage in the face of adversity and the presence of God's support. In case you haven’t noticed, this is not a suggestion, but a command.

As we all live out this life, there will be challenges, fears, discouragements, and all kinds of adversity. God’s Word to Joshua is also for us today. As you and I move forward in what God has for us, I am convinced that we are to walk life out with bravery and determination, trusting in God. Here are four things that can help us.

Strength is an inner resistance and ability to withstand adversity with mental & spiritual fortitude. Only God and His Word can help us build that inner strength as we stay in His Word and spend time with Him.

Good Courage is not just courage, but good courage. Good courage is a steadfastness and bravery that stems from faith in God and His promises. It’s not merely human bravery, but courage empowered by God’s presence and guidance.

God’s Presents is like nothing I have ever experienced. The Bible says that in His presence is fullness of joy. God’s presence provides comfort, guidance, and the power to overcome.

A Call To Action This action reminds us that through our faith in God and the Holy Spirit, He will help us see that we can rise up and face any situation with courage and a hope that never disappoints.

Be Strong and of good courage, for the Lord your God is with you!
