Scripture Of The Day

Isaiah 52:7 ”How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'”

By Cheryl Henderson (Excerpts from Chris Musgrove)

Are your feet bringing good news? Are they shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace? Ephesians 6:15 says, “And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

The Amplified Bible says, “And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.”

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

In Rick Renner’s book entitled “Dressed to Kill,” Renner shares details about the armor of God in Ephesians 6. Renner says the “shoes” of peace, in Verse 15, had tops that were basically nothing but laces, holding the bottom to the feet. However, if the bottom of the shoes were seen, then it would be realized how effective… and deadly they really were. Underneath were huge spikes that were no less than an inch long. These “shoes of peace” for us, spiritually, will be able to help us walk on, to stand our ground, because this peace will dig into the ground, and no matter what pushes against us, to try to push us back, we have a very firm footing!

Psalm 18:32-33 says, “It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places.” Verse 33, the Amplified Bible says, “He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.”

The sword of the Spirit, according to Ephesians 6:17, is the Word of God, and the high places, according to Strong’s, is a height; high place, mountain, hilltop, crest, ridge, or summit — a shrine upon a lofty site or any elevated place. The high places were often those hilltops upon which idolaters offered sacrifices to pagan gods. Those high places became a snare for the Israelites, who mixed worship of God with the worship of idols.

In Numbers 33:52, the Lord commands: “Demolish all their high places.” He is not a God who endorses mixture. Now, in light of what we have just learned. Let’s read Ephesians 6:12 and 15 again. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 15 having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

The gospel, God’s Word, keeps us sure-footed in every situation, and it brings life, peace, and Good News to all that we come in contact with. Feet that carry the gospel are beautiful!!!
