Scripture Of The Day
"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons (and daughters) of God." Romans 8:14
By Cheryl Henderson
The 8th chapter of Romans is one of my favorites. This chapter reminds me who I am in Jesus. Romans 8:14 locates our identity not in performance, pedigree, or feeling, but in being led. To be "led by the Spirit" implies an ongoing relationship: listening, trusting, and following. It pictures a Father who guides, a Spirit who directs, and a child who responds. Our status as God's children is evidenced not by self-assurance but by our openness to be moved by the Spirit—toward truth, toward holiness, toward love for others.
In the hour in which we live, it is more important than ever that we are led by the Holy Spirit. I set myself in agreement with God’s Word. I seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit for everything I say and do. I listen for his voice, his quiet nudging leading me. I say to him, “Spirit, lead me,” and take the next small step of obedience. I pray that for you today.
