Scripture Of The Day

The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130)

By Cheryl Henderson (Excerpts from Chris Musgrove)

Our Scripture of the day reads a little differently in the Amplified Bible. The entrance and unfolding of your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple {seducible}.

Several years ago, I was trying to help someone who was hooked on drugs. I was always telling the person he needed to get off drugs and change his life. But it seemed like the more I talked to him like that, the worse he became. One day, a good friend of mine shared with me that I needed to quit telling this person to get off drugs and change his life. I needed to start sharing the Word of God with him. The Word of God is the agent of change.

He explained it like this. It’s like the person who’s hooked on drugs is in this dark room, and he can’t get out because he can’t see anything, and all you keep doing is telling him to get out of the room. But he can’t even see the doorknob to open the door. You keep telling him to get out of the room, and he’s yelling back, “But I can’t see, I need someone to turn on the light”. This helped me to see that if I would just give this person the Word of God, I could help him change. The Word of God, which is the light of God, would allow him to see and then open the door to change. Thank God that young man is walking in the light of God’s Word today.

God’s Word is light that reveals (brings revelation, understanding) to our hearts (spirits). Satan (god of this world) wants to keep us from the Word (The Light) because he knows it’s the truth that reveals his lies, and it will make us free.

God has given you the truth (the light) to shine so people in darkness can find their way. Leave The Light On!
