This verse reminds us that our true understanding and revelation come from God's Spirit, not from worldly wisdom. The Holy Spirit opens eyes to the treasures God has already placed in us—grace, purpose, and truths that can't be earned or deduced by human reasoning. When we rely on culture, intellect, or self-effort alone, we miss the richness God freely offers. Receiving the Spirit means allowing Him to teach us, reshape our values, and reveal what Christ has accomplished on our behalf.

Today, pause and ask the Holy Spirit to show you one truth about your identity, calling, or provision that you’ve been trying to figure out on your own. Replace anxious striving with a short time of listening—pray, read Scripture, and wait expectantly for the Spirit’s gentle illumination. Then act on the simple next step He reveals.

An Atlanta Ga native, Cheryl was married for 53 years to Ed Henderson. They have three sons and 8 grandchildren, and one great gran.

In January of 2021, Ed went home to be with the Lord after a brave fight with colon cancer.
