I think we could all agree that giving is the very essence of God.  It is His nature. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved that He gave.  As we grow and mature in Christ, His nature should become our nature.  We move from impulse giving to obedient giving, then to supernatural giving.  You and I will never be the kind of givers we should until we understand that we are simply stewards of God's possessions.  We don't own it; we simply oversee it. 

Paul notes five attitudes of supernatural givers in 2 Corinthians 9. They give generously.  It's not how much you can keep, it's how much you can give.  They give prayerfully.  They seek God's wisdom and they give as they purpose in their hearts.   They give Cheerfully. God loves a cheerful giver. They give faithfully. As God leads us to give, we know by faith He will take care of us. They give sacrificially.  We must be willing to give up things.

 

To me giving is so much fun!  God always honors your gift when done in the right spirit and with the right motives.  I encourage you today to pray about giving and be obedient to what the Lord tells you to do.
