You Have A Mission

Scripture Of The Day

These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” Mark 16:17-18

Oral Roberts University has a special place in my heart. Back in the 90s, every year for several years, I would take 20 to 30 ladies there for a special women’s conference with Lindsay Roberts and Cheryl Salem. It was a powerful experience! Many women had their lives forever changed by those encounters. Then, later, my son Chip went there. He met his wife, Becky, there. Her parents met and married there, too. At present, one of my grandsons has recently graduated from there, and the other grandson is getting his Master’s in practical theology.

When I first started visiting there, I saw these words written on the wall in the chapel, “Raise up your students to hear My voice, to go where My light is dim, where My voice is heard small and My healing power is not known. To go even to the uttermost bounds of the earth. Their work will exceed yours, and in this I am well pleased.”

These are the words that God spoke to Oral Roberts as he was about to build the university. As I stood in that chapel and read those words, I heard it as a call to every Christian. You may be called to the mission field in other countries, you might be working a 9 to 5 job, and you might be in the local church. It doesn’t matter. In our world today, there are places where His light is dim, where His voice is heard small, and His healing power is not known. I challenge you today to be about the Father’s business. Go tell the world about Him, lay hands on the sick, love each other, and pray. You have a mission, you have a calling, and you are anointed. As my Mama would say, “It’s time to perform the doing of it!”
