Directed By Love

Scripture Of The Day

May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:5 ESV

By Cheryl Henderson

What a wonder it is that the Lord directs our hearts in love and leads us to the competence of Christ. There is nothing in life we need more than Jesus.

When our direction feels uncertain, this promise reorients us: God doesn’t merely give rules or routes—He guides hearts. God’s love is the compass and Christ’s steadfastness is the path. Being “directed by love” means our choices, priorities, and responses flow from being held and shaped by God’s affection and by Jesus’ persistent faithfulness. That transforms anxiety into patient hope, conflict into gentle courage, and aimless effort into purposeful service.

Today, pause three times—morning, midday, evening—and ask God to align your desires with His love. Let one small decision (a conversation, an email, a task) be shaped by patience and compassion before acting. It’s all about being directed by love.
