Fix these words of mine in your heart (Deuteronomy 11:18)

God tells us that He wants us to fix His Word in our hearts. You might ask, “How in the world do we do that?”

1. Turning knowledge into action. Your Bible knowledge may be 10 times greater than someone else’s, but if you’re not 10 times more loving, patient, and joyful, what good is it? The right doctrine with the wrong spirit will turn people away every time.

2. Taking one thought with you through the day. Have you ever had a song get stuck in your head and you hear it all day? David says that the way to prosper is through meditating on Scripture day and night. (Psalm 1:2) I have heard it said that meditation is like a cow chewing cud. It is not a fast process. When you read a certain scripture, or hear a certain Christian song that grips your heart, or if God impresses on you a certain thought, live with it all day!! Roll it over in your mind and think on it.

3. Allow God’s Word to wash you daily. The scripture in Ephesians 5:26 tells us that we are cleansed by the washing of water by the word. God’s Word is the only detergent strong enough to get down into the deepest levels of our thoughts, imagination, and motives and cleanse us.

Begin today to fix God’s Word in your heart.
