Improve

Scripture Of The Day

“And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23).

By Cheryl Henderson

I’m not usually one for New Year’s resolutions, but there are things I want to improve in 2026. Now that we’re a third of the way through the year, it’s clear I still have work to do. To improve means to make something better, to advance, or to add what’s useful—steps that shape who we become.

John Maxwell wrote, “Improving yourself is the first step in improving everything else in your life.” That’s true. Offering God our best requires daily, steady improvement. Inner growth produces outward change.

What do you want for the rest of this year? What changes will help you give God your best? 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Colossians 3:23 adds, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

I want to grow closer to Christ and reflect Him more in the way I live. Keep pressing forward—exciting things are ahead, and the best is yet to come.
