Let Peace Be The Umpire
June 29, 2026
Scripture Of The Day
"Let the peace of Christ (the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him) be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]." — Colossians 3:15 (AMP)

Life is full of decisions, challenges, and unexpected turns. In those moments, it is easy to be driven by fear, pressure, or emotion. Yet Colossians 3:15 reminds us that the peace of Christ is to be the controlling factor in our hearts. The phrase "controlling factor" carries the idea of an umpire making the final call. God's peace helps us discern the right path and brings confidence when we are walking in His will.
When faced with uncertainty, pause and ask yourself, "Do I have God's peace about this?" The Holy Spirit often guides us through that inward calm that settles our hearts, even when circumstances remain unsettled. His peace is not dependent on what is happening around us but on Who is reigning within us.
Notice also that Paul connects peace with thankfulness. A grateful heart creates an atmosphere where God's peace can flourish. As we thank Him for His faithfulness, our focus shifts from our problems to His promises.
Today, allow the peace of Christ to be the umpire of your heart. Let it guide your decisions, calm your fears, and remind you that God is in control.
