Scripture for the Day (May 15, 2015)
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12:3)
Do you want to be a star? Due to the times we live in we are seeing more and more books being written, and hearing more and more teachings, on the end times. This is very understandable due to wars and rumors of wars; earthquakes; terrorism; Christians being slaughtered; and the moral decay we all see. I agree with the scripture that we should be aware of the seasons that we live in but we should also be careful not to get so self absorbed in this area that we are pulled off course and forget what our main calling is.
Our main calling is to love as many people as possible into the Kingdom of God. Here are a few things we should think about:
* Jesus told his disciples that He did not know when the end would come. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Matthew 24:36) We can debate all we want but if Jesus himself does not know when He is coming back then I assure you no one on this earth knows.
* Jesus asked would he find faith when He returned? Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8) Will he find faith or fear?
* The parable of the ten virgins poses the question “will we have oil in our lamps when He returns”? Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 25:13) There were 5 wise virgins and 5 foolish virgins. Which crowd do we want to be associated with?
* The book of Daniel tells us that there will be a time of trouble like we have never seen and that will be a time for the wise to shine and to help turn many to righteousness.
Here is the bottom line! He is coming, and I’m ready! Are you? Are you busy about leading people to the Lord? Are you busy building up your faith so you can withstand whatever comes your way? Is your lamp full of oil? Is your light still burning bright? Is the anointing of God still active in your life? I want to be part of the crowd identified with the five wise virgins; the one with faith; and the one turning many to righteousness. I want to be a Star for Jesus! How about you???
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of then were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. (Matthew 25:1-4)
