I give thanks to you O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.
(Psalm 86:12)

By Cheryl Henderson

There was a season of our lives when the Lord moved us from Memphis, TN to Jacksonville Fl. That was a huge change in our lives in more ways than one.  Ed started a new job. Chip was nine at the time and he started a new school. The life style in Jacksonville was so different from Tennessee.

As we got moved in and settled Ed came to me one day and said he needed my help financially. I had been home with my children for 10 years and I was a little taken back when Ed asked me to get a job and help for a while to get over the expense of the move.  Well, I did not have a skill and all I knew how to do was preach, pray and prophesy. I was pretty sure no one was going to pay me to do that! I remembered that in our really early days of marriage I worked in a bank as a teller, so I applied to several banks.

I landed a job as a teller and it seemed like it was going to be OK. One day one of the other tellers came to me and wanted me to join their little group and play the lottery. I told her that I did not play the lottery. She was very offended and from that time on I was pushed out of the “group.”

My days at the bank were awful! I griped going to work and I griped coming home. I was not used to being around people that hated me and made my life miserable. It so was so hard.
Well, after many months of my griping Ed had had enough. He met me at the back door one night as I came home from work. He stopped me before I could get in the door, put his finger in my chest and said, “You better quit cursing God’s blessing!” Needless to say I had to repent right there and then.

That job was helping my family get over a financial hump and just because I was a little uncomfortable and being a big baby was no reason for me to grip and complain.
I encourage you today to be thankful for God’s provision in your life. He works all things for your good. Don’t be cursing God’s blessing!
