Scripture of The Day
March 10 ,2021

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. (Philippians 4:6, Amplified Bible)

By Ed Henderson

One of the hardest things most of us struggle with is patience. We live in a fast-food, warp speed, over-night delivery society. We want things done yesterday. The problem with that is that God works on a different clock than we do. His timing is perfect and ours is usually a bit accelerated at best. I have learned after many years in the ministry that it is better to wait on the Lord than to run out in front of him. Elijah made that mistake and ended up in a cave wanting to die. Thankfully, God did not forget about Elijah and was able to adjust his timetable.

There is a great song by Will Reagan and the United Pursuit Band entitled “Not in a Hurry”. The abbreviated lyrics are furnished below. You can listen to this great song by clicking on the following YouTube link. It makes a great prayer for all of us, but especially for those in full-time ministry.

Lord, I don’t want to rush on ahead, In my own strength, When You’re right here
I’m not in a hurry, When it comes to Your spirit, When it comes to Your presence, When it comes to Your voice
I’m learning to listen, Just to rest in Your nearness, I’m starting to notice, You are speaking Lord
I want to love like You, I want to feel what You feel, I want to see what You see, Open my eyes, I want to see You
Open my ears, I want to Hear you speak, Tell me Your thoughts, what’s on Your mind
I’ll be Your friend, I want to see through Your eyes, I wanna see through Your eyes
Help us Lord to wait on you and not rush ahead.
