Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
By Chris Musgrove of Future Now
John 10:27-30 says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” In the past when I would begin to think about this verse I would see in my mind’s eye this giant hand with me sitting in the palm of it. But several years ago an elderly Christian woman told me that she believed the Lord showed her a clearer picture of what was meant by “no man can pluck or snatch you out of the Fathers hand.” She shared with me that many times as a parent her children had snatched away from her while holding hands and walking in a store or mall. But not once had anyone ever snatched one of her children away from her while holding hands. She said if someone had ever tried to do that, they would’ve had to kill her to snatch her child away. As I thought about what she said, I remembered several times when my own children had snatched away from me while holding hands. But no one could have ever snatched away my child from me.
Luke 8:14, in talking about the parable of the sower says, “The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.” What would cause an immature child to snatch away (go their own way) from their parents? Something that caught their eye, which brought pleasure, or that was in the opposite direction in which the parents were going. Isaiah 65:2 says, “I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in a way that is not good, According to their own thoughts;”
But just like the prodigal son’s father in Luke 15 who was waiting and watching with outstretched hands for his prodigal son who walked away from him, the Father God is waiting for His prodigals to come back home with outstretched hands. We encourage you today to always hear the Father’s voice and follow Him. If you have run away, your Father in Heaven is waiting for your return with open arms. There is safety and blessings when you are in His house and when you are walking hand in hand with Him. Like a bird protecting its young, God will cover you with His feathers, will protect you under His great wings; His faithfulness will form a shield around you, a rock-solid wall to protect you.
