Scripture for the Day
September 8, 2020

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. (John 2:23-25)

The Passion Translation says it like this: While Jesus was at the Passover Feast , the number of his followers began to grow, and many gave their allegiance to him because of all the miraculous signs they had seen him doing! But Jesus did not yet entrust himself to them, because he knew how fickle human hearts can be. He didn’t need anyone to tell him about human nature, for he fully understood what man was capable of doing.

I hope everybody had a great holiday, but it is time to get back into the Word. The above scriptures are very telling in the religious world as well as the business world. A fan is mainly interested in what someone else can bring to the table. The first sign of trouble, they are gone. A friend will stick closer than a brother, regardless of what is going on. These are hard to find!

God had some remarkably close friends that He talked face to face.

And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. (Exodus 33:11)

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. (James 2:23)

There is great wisdom in this if you will just meditate on these scriptures. It will keep you from making some horrible mistakes on the front end of a business agreement, in the middle of that agreement, and at the end of that agreement. Most people in business go into business with a friend. Sometimes in the middle of that business, they (one or the other) will become a fan of another leader and they start talking bad about their original leader who has enriched them greatly. That is the beginning of the end of a great friendship and business!

Fans are fickle, but real friends stick like glue.
