Scripture for the Day – November 7, 2019
Ephesians 1:18: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
According to the American Dictionary of the English Language the word “inheritance” is “an estate which the law casts on a child or other person, as the representative of the deceased ancestor.” We are the children of God and Christ’s representatives in the earth.
Colossians 1:12 says: Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
Ephesians 1:5-6 says, “He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”
The Greek word for adoption to sonship is a legal term referring to the full legal standing of an adopted male heir in Roman culture.
Hebrews 9:16-17 says, “For where there is a [last] will and testament involved, the death of the one who made it must be established, 17 For a will and testament is valid and takes effect only at death, since it has no force or legal power as long as the one who made it is alive.”
In other words, when Jesus died, the glorious inheritance became ours as the children of God. To obtain your inheritance, you must study the Will and claim your inheritance and not allow the accuser of the brethren (Satan) to try to steal what legally belongs to you.
The very reason Satan hates the Word of God is that it is the Will of God. If it is read by the children of God, it will empower them to have faith because they see what belongs to them!
Romans 8:17 says, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ.”
When people begin to read God’s Will, His Last Will and Testament (The Word of God), they will find out what belongs to them. Then they will know the truth, and the truth will make them free. (John 8:32)
In the United States alone there is over $30 billion dollars worth of unclaimed funds in state accounts, wills, estates, insurance settlements, stocks, dividends and bonds, etc. – All waiting to be claimed by the rightful owners or inheritors. How did this amount of unclaimed money get to be so large and why hasn’t it been claimed? There’s only one reason it hasn’t been claimed: the inheritors don’t know about it. The only thing that will keep people from receiving their inheritance is no knowledge of it; not knowing what belongs to them.
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.”
Read the Will of God (the Bible) and find out what belongs to you!!!
The Amplified Bible says it like this, “By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones). (Ephesians 1:18)
