Scripture for the Day (September 23 2015)
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)
It is sad to say but our Christian churches today are filled with people sitting in pews that have no idea what the Bible says. They think they know, because their preacher tells them what it says and means, but they really don’t know on a personal level. They haven’t spent enough personal time with God and the Bible to really know. They just trust their Pastor’s seminary training, his integrity, and that can be very dangerous.
If you had a millionaire relative die that left his estate to you in a hand written will what would you do? Would you trust a lawyer to read and interpret that will for you or would you want to read it for yourself? I know what I would do. I would read every word myself!
We live in a time and age where there is much deception, much greed, and much manipulation. The religious sector is not immune from these either (2 Peter 2:1). Our theological seminaries are full of liberal teachers just like our colleges and many preachers are just repeating what they have been taught. It is imperative that you test the Spirit and test the Word that is being taught. The only way you can do that is by having a personal knowledge of the Word of God and having a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)
We just went through a situation where the server that hosts our ministry website was attacked by malware. This attack actually inserted bad computer code into the server that shut down portions of our website. That is exactly what the enemy does when it comes to scripture. He inserts a lie here, a twisted truth there (a half truth is a whole lie), and it causes the Word to not work like it should. However, God has given us our own personal and free anti-virus system. If you read His Word, and have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, alarm bells will go off in your spirit when you hear something that does not lineup with His Word and His Spirit.
You have to realize that there is a battle going on between light and darkness, truth and lies, good and evil, Heaven and Hell. You can be sitting in a pew, but listening to lies. Wake up!!!! Read His Word for yourself! Do not trust doctrines just because your parents or grand parents trusted them or just because you trust the name of a denomination. Your trust has to be in one name alone and that name is Jesus. Your reliance has to be in one book alone and that book is the Bible. Your discernment has to come from one source alone and that source is the Holy Spirit.
It’s free! All you have to do is download it!
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)
As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him]. (1 John 2:27, Amplified Bible)
