For it was whenever Israel had sown [their seed] that the Midianites would come up with the Amalekites and the people of the east and go up against them. 4So they would camp against them and destroy the crops of the land as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel as well as no sheep, ox, or donkey. (Judges 6:3-4

The ultimate joy of the enemy is to destroy our seed. Our seed is anything we do in honor of God, and it includes our tithes and offerings. How terrible it is to sow and not reap, this is the fruit of the spirit of poverty. In Judges 6:3 it talks about every time the people of Israel sowed seed, the Midianites destroyed the increase. Notice that it says, ‘only as far as Gaza’. Gaza means “The place of strong will”, which makes this a territorial spirit, and these spirits are limited to jurisdiction. It’s like getting to a county line whose laws are different. You MUST get past Gaza!
Our seed is precious, and this is why the enemy comes to steal it. He is a seedeater! This causes us to always be in need. No seed, no multiplication, it’s as simple as that. The spirit of poverty (a spirit of need) is a curse. There is a demon that keeps people in constant want and it will distract you from your purpose. That is the enemy’s plan. Poverty will grip you until you have a mind-set of poverty. Any need that distracts you from your purpose is demonic and should not be tolerated. Cry out for deliverance and create a new mind-set (change your way of thinking and move towards — and in your purpose). If you are not certain about your purpose, bloom where you are planted until God reveals your purpose. Know this, the enemy can only bind you up as far as your mind will limit you. The good news is now you know the enemy has limitations.
Just a little history about Gaza. It is currently one of the most poverty-stricken places in the world. Scripture declares that God cursed the land of Gaza to be bald. The Philistines were trading his people as slaves, and God pronounced eternal judgement upon them. Today the curse is so prevalent that people cannot get jobs there. Gaza is located between Egypt and Israel. Still today, anyone born in Gaza is not allowed entrance into Israel. They have to remain in Gaza or go to Egypt. Even though you may be having a Gaza experience, move forward and get past it. You must get past Gaza, if you stay where you are, the enemy has the right to destroy your increase. Beloved, be reminded of what God has brought you out of up to this point in your life. Never forget the goodness of the Lord. Do not allow your present situation to rob you of what God has already done and will do for your future.
