Scripture for the Day (July 17, 2015)
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Romans 2:4)
If you haven’t figured this out yet, my wife and I are “Word” people. By that I mean we rely very heavily on His Word (the Bible) to lead us to the truth and filter out the lies and distortions. One of the foundational truths we had to learn early on was the “Goodness of God”. It is very hard to believe in, and have faith in, a God that is out to harm you. You cannot be double-minded in this area. God is not out to harm you!!! He is a Good God!!
Consider, ponder, reflect and meditate on the following scriptures:
Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31)
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Psalms 34:8)
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. (Psalms 34:10)
Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. (Psalms 69:16)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1:17)
The simplicity of the Gospel is this, “God is good and the devil is bad.” We have too many people that are mixing up the two and thereby negatively effecting their prayers and faith. The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy. God comes to give you life and life more abundantly. End of story!!! (John 10:10)
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, TLB)
