A Nugget from New Life Network
Scripture for the Day (May 1, 2015)
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)
I will never forget when I first gave my life to the Lord and shortly thereafter realized He wanted me to be in the ministry. I argued with Him about it and this was my main argument. “Lord, you know me. I was born in the deep South and every other word out of my mouth for years was a cuss word. You can’t possibly want me to preach because I might get excited and start cussing”. That sounds silly now but I just did not realize that God could change your heart (your mind, will, and emotions) and replace all those cuss words with His Words.
Jesus is the Master of Change! He said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord”. (Luke 4:18-19)When Jesus came on the scene, things changed. People were healed, demons were cast out, miracles took place, people went away different. Jesus has not changed!!! He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and He wants to change each one of us from glory to glory. We just have to give Him access and realize this change process will be in effect until we go there or He comes here.Nothing is too hard for him. Alcohol, drugs, anger, unforgiveness, demons, health problems, pride, cussing, or anything else. He can handle it! He can change you if you just turn over every corner of your heart to Him.
Remember, salvation, as big a miracle as that is, is just the staring point. It is not the final destination!
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (II Corinthians 3:18)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:3)
