Scripture for the Day

“When you pass through the waters I will be with you and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you. (Isaiah 43:2)

A week or so ago I wrote a devotional about Going through the go-throughs. You know, those things you go through day by day, things you didn’t plan, they just showed up! You are just walking in what you know and doing what must be done. It really got me to thinking about what God’s Word says about going through things. Now we all know that everyone in the Bible went through things. Some of those things are much worse than what we are going through in this hour. I have not been stoned, flogged, beaten, or put in the inner prison in chains. I have not been spit out of a big fish’s mouth, nor thrown into a pit. I have not been crucified.  Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. (Hebrews 12:4)

What we are all dealing with in this hour is not easy, it’s not comfortable, and we don’t even have a “how to” book for this. We are in uncharted waters. Just like those in the Bible (that did not have a Bible to guide them) they had to walk things out trusting in what they knew about God and His Word to them.  By Faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and went out, not knowing whither he went. (Hebrews 11:8)

As I dug a little deeper into the Word this is what I found. There are so many places where God said; go up, go in, walk through, pass through, go forth, go and tell, go and proclaim, walk in, walk after, and walk through. Sometimes, going through means all of the above. Sometimes, it means just walk in what you know. Trust the Holy Spirit inside of you.  I have not seen or read one scripture that said, be fearful, be anxious, and be worried. Although, I must confess we have done all of those things as Ed and I have walked this walk. I guess that makes us human. But here is the deal, I know my God, I have His Word, I know He is with us and He will get us through this. No matter what, we win!! Ed and I are grateful, thankful, happy, blessed, and we trust the God we serve.  No matter whether you are going in, going through, going forth, or just going you must know that you are not alone. If you belong to Jesus you win!
